Dr. David Samuels

Board Certified Psychiatrist

Psychiatry is a wonderful field in which to practice medicine. I feel that I am able to make a huge difference in people’s lives every day. Let’s face it, we all have issues, but when they begin to affect your life in some form or fashion, it’s time to get professional help. I feel very passionate about helping people and I derive great satisfaction every day from doing so.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science at Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania.

  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City Missouri.

  • Psychiatry residency at St Vincent’s Medical Center in Staten Island, New York.

Continuing Education and Experience:

My dedication is to my patients and providing the highest quality care possible. I regularly attend continuing education courses to build upon my experience and my ability to deliver psychiatric care with remarkable efficiency and effectiveness. I have received specialty training in depression and anxiety in addition to attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity. I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist with the American College of Osteopathic Neurologist and Psychiatrists which provides me with year-round continuing education opportunities with at least 50-75 Continued Medical education classes every year.

After graduation, I was able to choose where I wanted to practice.  Statesboro was the perfect location, where I could provide care in an environment where patient care can still be the number one goal of practicing medicine.  In addition, I have been the Medical Director for two outpatient programs throughout the last decade, helping hundreds of people in this under-served area gain access to mental health care.   Currently I am the Medical Director of an inpatient psychiatric unit in Swainsboro, specializing in the needs the area’s elderly.

Outside the Office

In 2001, my family moved to Statesboro.  I chose this community for its blend of small-town friendly atmosphere, a growing economy, and thriving university.  I love the ‘Boro!  My family sponsors the Farmer’s Market Turkey Trot and the Averitt Center for the Arts.  I have three amazingly talented children.  As a hobby, I enjoy being with my family, reading, and regular exercise.  My passion for fitness translates to my practice philosophy and I incorporate fitness and healthy eating habits in my patient care. My greatest thrill however, is as an instrument-rated private pilot. I enjoy flying for Angel flight, a nonprofit organization helping sick families from rural communities access highly specialized medical care in distant hospitals.

My staff and I look forward to serving you in our wonderful new home at 19 Lester Rd, across from Statesboro High.
